The Second Chance Matric Programme registration has begun for candidates writing the May/June examinations. It aims to provide support to learners who could not meet the requirements of the National Senior Certificate or the Senior Certificate (amended).

2026 May/June Second Chance Matric Material
The SA Department of Basic Education has collated multimedia material to help you prepare for the National Senior Certificate/Senior Certificate(amended) examinations.
This material, made up of videos, study guides and audio, does not cover the entire curriculum, but it does focus on the core content of each knowledge area and points out where you can earn easy marks.

PLEASE NOTE:
- Only National Senior Certificate (NSC) candidates qualify for both the May/June and October/November exams.
- Candidates who study on a part-time basis will not be required to pay any fees to take part in the programme.
- In-person classes are facilitated by qualified teachers at selected schools and community centres.
The timetable for the 2026 May/June exams has been released.
