Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) is offering the Graduate School Scholarship Programme (GSSP) in collaboration with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for the Winter Semester 2025/2026.

Scholarship Details
This program provides one DAAD-funded GSSP PhD scholarship and additional non-funded PhD positions within the Class of Language at LMU’s Graduate School of Language & Literature. It also offers a valuable opportunity to pursue doctoral studies in a world-class academic environment at LMU Munich.
Eligibility Criteria
Academic Qualifications: An above-average university degree in a linguistic discipline (e.g., Diplom, State Examination, Magister Artium, Master’s, Maîtrise, Laurea).
- Language Proficiency: Adequate knowledge of at least two European scientific languages, preferably including German.
- Residency Status: Applicants must not have been residing in Germany for more than 15 months prior to May 1, 2025.
- Degree Completion: The last degree should have been completed within six years before May 1, 2025, and applicants should not have completed a PhD previously.
- International Applicants: Exclusively open to international students, with a particular welcome to applicants from developing countries and emerging nations.

FIRST ROUND: Submit the following documents as a single PDF to nadine.klopfer@lmu.de by April 15, 2025:
- Academic Curriculum Vitae
- Project Outline for PhD Research
- Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Certificates and Transcripts (include your home university’s grade scale)
- Proof of English language skills (C1 level) and German, if applicable
- Optional: List of Publications
- Two Letters of Recommendation (to be sent separately by professors to nadine.klopfer@lmu.de)
SECOND ROUND: Interviews (via Zoom) will be in late April 2025. Successful candidates will be nominated to the DAAD.
FINAL ROUND: The DAAD will make the final decision based on documents submitted by the nominated candidates via the DAAD portal by mid-May 2025.
