How to Apply for Residence at Lovedale TVET College

Despite being a public institution, Lovedale TVET College does not operate its on-campus hostels. Instead, accommodation is provided through private providers near its campuses.

Students must arrange housing independently, except in cases where they qualify for NSFAS bursary funding, which may include free NSFAS-sponsored accommodation as part of their financial assistance package.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR ACCOMMODATION?

• You must first be accepted as a student at Lovedale TVET College before seeking accommodation.

Steps to Secure Accommodation for Lovedale TVET College Student

1. Apply and Register as a Student

• Go to the Lovedale Online Application Portal (Coltech): https://lovedale.coltech.co.za/Student/Login?ReturnUrl=/Student/Dashboard?from=/Student/Login.
• Submit your application during the official application window:
  • For the 2026 academic year, applications open on 1 September 2025 and close on 1 December 2025.
• Upload certified documents: ID copy, academic results, proof of residence, and if required, parent/guardian ID.

2. Apply for NSFAS Funding (if eligible)

• Register on the NSFAS portal.

3. Find Private Accommodation Nearby

Since Lovedale TVET College doesn’t provide residences, you’ll need to rent from private landlords near one of its campuses (Alice, King William’s Town, or Zwelitsha).

Explore local housing markets via community Facebook pages or real estate forums. From other student housing experiences, safety tips include: verifying the landlord, securing a lease contract, and avoiding upfront full deposits without inspection.
