The British Society for the Philosophy of Science (BSPS) is offering a fully funded Doctoral Scholarship for the 2025/2026 academic year. This scholarship supports outstanding students pursuing a PhD in Philosophy of Science at a UK university.
- Tuition Fees: Covers tuition fees at the home student rate.
- Stipend: Provides a stipend at the current UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) rate for PhD students.

The BSPS Doctoral Scholarship is a full PhD studentship at the home student rate for up to three years. In cases where an awardee has partial funding from other sources, the size of the BSPS grant will be adjusted accordingly.
Eligibility Criteria
- PhD Program: Applicants must apply for a PhD program in Philosophy or Philosophy of Science at a UK university.
- Funding Status: Applicants should confirm their ineligibility for Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funding or provide details of their AHRC application status.
- Other Funding: Applicants must disclose other secured funding sources and list pending funding applications.
- Admission Confirmation: If accepted into a PhD program, applicants should confirm their admission.
Application Process
All doctoral scholarship applications should be emailed to the BSPS Honorary Secretary at bspssecretary@gmail.com.
Two academic referees (at most one of whom can be the proposed supervisor) should write reference letters directly to the BSPS Honorary Secretary.
