The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) learnership is designed to recruit, train, and prepare young, disciplined, and committed individuals for a career in municipal law enforcement. Trainees will receive theoretical and practical training in line with South African policing standards.

Key Duties of a Metro Police Officer
Upon successful completion of the program and appointment as a Metro Police Constable, duties may include:
- Enforcing municipal bylaws and traffic regulations.
- Conducting crime prevention patrols.

- Responding to emergencies and accidents.
- Maintaining law and order during public events.

Minimum Requirements
Applicant must have;
- To qualify for the EMPD learnership, you must meet the following:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate (no exceptions).
- Aged 18 to 35 years old.
- No criminal record (you’ll undergo background checks).
- Be medically and physically fit.
- Be willing to undergo a full selection process, including a fitness test, psychometric assessments, and interviews.
- A valid Code B (light motor vehicle) driver’s license is often recommended or required.
